Funny Things Happen When You Are Tired…

It’s the last week of Mumma’s Own March and this week is all about those tired mum moments. We’ve all had them with our babies!

Having a new born baby means a lot of interrupted sleep at night, and with sleepless nights comes exhaustion. At some point the lack of sleep begins to catch up with the parent…and when this happens so do the funny and silly mistakes. From thinking the dog is the baby, and putting things in the wrong places, we want to prove you are not alone in this with some stories from friends of Ziggle. Hopefully these stories make you feel better, or at the very least… make you laugh!

Up first we have a friend of Ziggle explaining what she did when she was sleep deprived…

“I had laid my six month old on his play mat to play. The mat is by our sliding screen door and the sun was shining that morning. Our small dog, who is close in size to the baby, decided to lay on his back and get some sun. I grabbed a cup of coffee and checked my phone.

I was going to get my baby out of his pyjamas and change his nappy, so I walked over, reached down and picked the babY milo and arrabella christmas blankety up. I laid him on the changing table and started to put his nappy on. After I already had half the nappy on, I realised that I was putting the nappy on the dog.

How I had mistaken the baby for the dog, and then overlooked taking off clothes and a nappy, I will never know.”

That’s not the only time someone has mistaken their pet for their little one…

Friend of Ziggle, Christine, told us; “I was giving my baby his lunch when half in a daze I filled a cup with milk and handed it to the dog. When he didn’t take it, I got annoyed and said, ‘Well? Here you go!’ It took me a full five seconds to realise he wasn’t the 2-year-old.”

It’s not just poor dogs taking the wrath of a tired Mumma…

Lauren said: “Upon hearing my baby cry, I woke up and started rocking my arms. Was the baby in my arms? Nope, it was the cat who looked at me like I was crazy.”… poor cat!

Next up me have some Mumma’s who became very forgetful …

BLAN9378_4It’s not just confusion over who is the pet and who is the baby when you are tired… when you have had a lack of sleep, you can also become a little forgetful… here are some stories from friends of Ziggle who wanted to share their funniest forgetful moments!

Fiona said… “I was so tired I forgot our son’s name. I gestured to the monitor and asked my husband, ‘How’s what’s-his-face doing? The look on his face when I asked him was hilarious. I remember now… most of the time!”

“I finished a full food shopping trip, then fastened the baby into her car seat and drove away… leaving all of the food in the shopping trolley in the car park” – Sally. Oh Sally! We hope you got your shop back… at least it was the food you left and not the baby.

Nicole says “I used to forget where I had put things, once I put the formula in the fridge and the milk in the cupboard, then when I went to make a cup of tea I couldn’t find the milk. As a tired Mum I was living off cups of tea, it was a stressful moment.”

Tired mum moments happen all the time and you just have to laugh at them when you can…
